The beginning!

This will be my first post on my blog!  While I'm new to this media; I've written extensively on Police Internal Affairs matters and police misconduct.  I hope this blog will encourage discussion on these topics from not only people in law enforcement, but those in the general public who might be interested in the subject.  In the end, what a cop or deputy does will affect the general public.  The image of the officer and agency are the most important aspect of delivering professional policing.  All you have to do is look at the current events in my old department - the LAPD.  I remember my first Chief, William H. Parker (the old LAPD building was named after him; Parker Center) telling all of us that he couldn't stop his officers from having prejudices, but he could require them to keep them at home when they put on the blue uniform. Today this isn't good enough!  We must demand that each uniformed officer shed any prejudice when he or she takes the oath of office.  We can't accept anything less!
